The Lower School, for boys aged seven to nine, has its own self-contained building with ten form rooms; art, practical maths and ICT rooms, and its own library. The ten forms have approximately twenty boys in each, and teaching is by a mixture of form teachers and specialist subject teachers.
As well as lessons, educational trips and guest speakers visiting the school, the boys are able to take part in lunchtime and after-school clubs. The Lower School has its own choir, and string and brass groups.
The curriculum is broadly based, to provide a good grounding for later learning. Subjects include english, mathematics, science, history, geography, religious studies, french, art and craft, music, design and technology, information and communication technology, PE, swimming and games. As always, parents are involved whenever possible, through both formal and informal meetings, events and open days.
In 2004 the boys from years 3 and 4 started a project called London Landmarks. All ten classes consisting of over 200 boys took part. It was designed to help the boys to appreciate the place they live in and also to learn about architecture.
