Admission to DCPS

The main points of admission to the Prep for day pupils are at the following ages:

3+ and 4+ into the Nursery (approx. 60 pupils and 25 boys respectively)
5+ into the Annexe (between 5 and10 boys)
7+ and 8+ into the Lower School (approx.20 and 10 boys respectively)
Admission at other ages is dependent upon the availability of places.

The admission of weekly boarders aged 8 and above is dependent upon a place being available in the day school.

Open Mornings for the Annexe, Lower, Middle and Upper Schools are held each term during which prospective parents can see the school in action. Tours are normally conducted by senior boys and there is a chance to meet the Headmaster and senior staff over coffee. These occasions are for a limited number, so booking is essential. The Nursery conducts smaller, informal tours throughout the year. All sections of the school have additional Open Mornings for which no booking is necessary – children are welcome to attend. If parents are unable to make the dates set for the Open Mornings, an informal tour can be arrange with the Registrar.

Having registered their application for a place for their child, parents will thereafter be kept fully informed, by the Registrar, of the progress of the admissions process. The school does not have a waiting list and all children registered are assessed for a place. Admissions lists are only closed once we reach 3 children trying for any 1 place.

All assessments are conducted either individually or in very small groups and are as informal as possible. We understand that the admissions process can be very stressful and we endeavour to reduce anxiety as much as possible.

We have no provision for teaching English as an additional language at this school.

Provided we feel, in consultation with parents, that a pupil can access the curriculum at DCPS, we will accept statemented children.

We shall be happy to send you our prospectus and information booklet, which aims to provide a picture of life at the school as it really is, plus a Registration Form.
