Art and Design Technology

This is important at this stage of learning and is incorporated in to all areas of the curriculum. Our aim is to teach the boys to think and work creatively. They are taught to develop a range of ideas and to explore a variety of starting points. Boys are encouraged to think imaginatively and to discuss and evaluate their work.

As the boys progress through the Annexe they will learn about colour, shape, pattern and texture. The boys will also develop their skills through a wide range of techniques such as drawing, painting, modelling, constructing, sewing and weaving. They learn how to plan different stages of projects and begin to use ICT to develop their ideas.

Boys are encouraged to appreciate the aesthetic qualities of the environment and to study great artists as inspiration for their own work. In order to broaden their knowledge further the boys go on a number of different trips: Year 1 visit Dulwich Picture Gallery and Year 2 visit the National Gallery.
