The Nursery
The Nursery is the starting point for the exhilarating, stimulating and inspirational educational journey that our pupils undertake as they move through DCPS.
Set in five acres of fields and woodland, it has been located on Gallery Road since 1969 but was completely rebuilt in 2006. The superbly equipped, award winning, building allows us to provide the very best early experiences on which each child’s view of the world will be built.
Our aim is to foster a calm and gentle atmosphere, marked by a mutual respect between adults and children. Teachers and nursery nurses place an emphasis on encouraging children to praise each other, to listen to each other and to take turns. This develops confidence and a positive self-image.
We provide a safe and welcoming environment where all the children are treasured as individuals and encouraged to explore their gifts and strengths in order to lay a firm foundation for later learning.
